Ohessa on SUR in English lehdessä julkaistu juttu, jonka mukaan kansainvälinen TVE kanava aloittaa espanjankurssit tammikuussa 2009.

    SUR in English 5.12.2008:

”Hola, ¿qué tal?” or ”Hi, how are you?” the most frequent greeting in the Spanish language, is the name of a course available to anyone wishing to learn the language anywhere in the world, with classes on the Internet and television whose promoters expect to have 1.5 million students within three years.
The office of the Cervantes Institute in Madrid hosted on Friday the presentation of the course, developed by the institute itself, Radio Television Española (RTVE), the regional government of La Rioja, SM publishing group and banking giant BBVA.
”Hola, ¿qué tal?” will start giving classes in January on the international channel of TVE, although its Web site – http://www.holaquetal.com – is already up and running, and on it Spanish will be taught using the latest in technological supports.
Among the different services and materials of the course are 208 television programs of 15 minutes each, 8,000 interactive and multimedia activities, nine virtual books, three student guides with advice on how to get the most out of the material, and a Web page created by BBVA Group’s Servitecsa.
Thanks to the service of individual tutorials, student will be able to practise Spanish through chat rooms, videoconferencing and by telephone with a personal tutor, with whom it will be possible to have conversations, review exercises and clear up doubts.
The first academic course of the program will be presented by the Spaniard Laura More and the Venezuelan Gerardo de Pablos, who will share the screen with six actors from different Spanish-speaking countries so that the course makes a place for all the phonetic characteristics of the Spanish language.
The course will have some parts that are free and others that are paid for.
The director of the Cervantes Institute, Carmen Caffarel, stressed that one virtue of the course is to promote the Spanish language where her organization can’t be present, and expressed the need to make good use of the new technologies ”so as not to lose our future: young people who nowadays live immersed in everything audiovisual.”
Caffarel defended the ”deliberate” use in the course of other accents that don’t come from Spain, considering that 450 million people speaking Spanish with different accents ”enriches the language.”
